Q. I find myself in the same position over and over -- the apartment I'm interested in is not available but the broker claims to have 'tons' of other listings that meet my needs, only I have to come to the office to find out about any of them.

Q. Last year, I rented an apartment in NYC for the first time, and now I'm having some issues with the renewal. My lease ends on Aug 31, 2013. Currently, I'm paying $2,400/mo, and the renewal asks for $2,700/mo for next year....
....Am I still protected by rent stabilization? If so, what can I do about the lease renewal? If not, can you help me understand what that term in my lease means?

Q. I'm renting a market-rate apartment in New York City and my lease is set to expire July 29th. My landlord emailed me on July 10th stating that he wants to raise the rent over 10% (from $2,400 to $2,650).

Q. My next apartment won't be ready for a couple of weeks after my lease ends. What happens if I don't move out on exactly on the date I'm supposed to? Can the landlord change the locks? Throw out my stuff? Keep my deposit?

Q. I live in a rental building with a restaurant on the ground floor. The restaurant is doing a major renovation and recently the building’s main gas line was shut off and has stayed off ever sense.
