This might be our favorite development so far in the city's ongoing cab wars: Gett is rolling out a new promotion in New York that'll reimburse you for Lyft and Uber surge price charges, in the form of ride credits on their own app. The program is aptly titled "Surge Sucks," per a press release that went out last week.

It works like this: Starting November 10, after signing up with Gett, simply email any surge pricing receipts to surgesucks@gett.com, and they'll reimburse you with ride credits for their own service, rounding up to the nearest $5 (i.e. if you submit a receipt for $21, Gett will give you a $25 credit). And if you're in Manhattan, this could potentially go a long way: lest we forget, Gett's claim to fame is offering $10 rides anywhere below 110th Street in Manhattan. (You can read our review of the service here.)

One more thing to keep in mind: Gett is also offering a $1,000 cash prize to whoever submits the single highest-priced surge receipt. Your move, Uber.
