Of all the towns and villages along Metro-North's Hudson Valley line, Cold Spring, New York is the loveliest, and I'm not just saying that because my grandparents live there. The 2,000-person village south of Poughkeepsie is home to lovely antique shops, gorgeous colonial architecture, and standout views of the Hudson River, and there's lots of good hiking in the surrounding area. Village highlights include the Hudson House Inn and steakhouse and the very good Riverview Restaurant for Italian.
